Emergency Preparation & Disaster Mitigation Committee

The Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Mitigation (EPDM) Committee works with The Tribe’s Planning department (part of the Planning, Community and Real Estate Services Program to assist the Tribe with the development and implementation of an Emergency Response Plan for all CIT operations, recommend changes to the Response Plan, and participate in outreach programs to educate and train Tribal members and residents of the Empire reservation on the Emergency Response Plan.  The EPDM encourages volunteer participation from members of the Tribe’s community to implement portions of the Emergency Response Plan to assure the Tribe’s facilities and communities residing on the Empire reservation are prepared for a disaster situation.

The Duties of the EPDM include:

• Making recommendations regarding the Tribal Emergency Response Plan including updates to the Plan to Tribal Council. 
• Establish sub-committees as required such as Emergency Response Teams.
• Participate in and provide Tribal Council approved community outreach programs that encourage participation and provide information and training.
• Organize workgroups to assist with Committee duties and activities.
• Establish Emergency Response Teams, as needed.
• Recommend budget(s), projects and proposals describing and supporting the duties and activities the Committee could undertake in order to perform its work.
