PLANNING PROGRAM

Accomplishments:
- Working with and the Bandon Port in establishing a Park dedicated to the significance of the village site in old town Bandon to the Tribe as well as provides Cultural education about the area.
- Working with representatives of other Oregon Tribes in the Government to Government-Economic Development Cluster, we successfully lobbied for and influenced passing legislation for all Oregon Indian Tribes to make tax exempt, fee land that is used for essential government services.
- Recently made Co-Chair of the Government to Government Economic Development Cluster
- Recently been elected to Chairman of the Board of Directors of ONABEN (a Native American business network)
- Elected as President of the Board of Managers for KO-KWOW L.L.C. a Native American Interpretive Exhibit design / Fabrication Company, a partnership with WOW arts and exhibits. The Tribe holds 51% ownership
- Procured new van with lift for CHC for Elders program for the primary use for transport of disabled and elderly.
Ongoing participation and activities:
ATNI EDC (Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Economic Development Corporation) Executive Board of Directors
We will conduct economic development conferences encouraging intertribal trade as well as promoting the use of Indian Tribal member owned small business for goods and services by the larger tribally owned businesses. Other ongoing EDC projects involve Tourism, Human Resource, Taxation, Buy Indian Program, and Energy.

We are providing financial resources and business advice for Indian Tribal members interested in starting or expanding small businesses. As a member, the Coquille Tribal Members have free access.

RC&D is a nonprofit dedicated to helping rural South Western Oregon communities enhance their natural, social and economic resources.

- Coos County Area Transit (CCAT) Advisory - Board of Advisors
- Cultural Liaison for Mill Casino/CEDCO - Tribal Administration Liaison
- Overseeing partnership with Coos County Area Transit (CCAT) the West Loop bus with new extended hours of operation. Coquille Tribal members can ride any of the CCAT transportation free by presenting a valid Coquille Tribal ID card.
- Secured employment of Linguist to work on Milluk Language curriculum through local federally funded program
- Overseeing the Milluk language project
- Will be providing an Indianpreneurship class in the Fall of 2011
- Continue updating Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA).
- Working with Cascadia Grant Writers to locate and apply for grants for various department and program projects.
- Pursuing funding for infrastructure for Tribal properties
- Continuing to evaluate various economic development opportunities
- Mid-point in the Strategic plan update and restructuring to be completed and implemented by year end 2011
- Start the integration of the planning Tracking project (STARS) with the Strategic Plan in fall 2011
- Administering STARS for Department/Program updates and reporting
- Providing outreach for Strategic Planning throughout the 5 county service area
- Provide Strategic Plan outreach at Tribal Events
- Providing out reach for Tribal Administration to 5 county service area
- Master & Comprehensive land use planning will begin fall of 2011
- Work in progress on Land use, zoning, and codes in progress
- Participating in emergency preparedness core group
